I sit here, drenched in rain, thinking about how I found myself in this position. Even upon reflection, I’m not quite sure how this happened, but maybe if I explain the events that led to this moment, I might have a better idea.
This all started yesterday when I welcomed the local phone technician operating near me into my home. The phone technician did a great job, so great that I decided to call my family on my brand new phone and invite them over. This is where the drama started. My brother was so impressed with the work of the technician, that he decided to go onto the roof and check it out for himself. He ended up falling through the roof and putting a big hole in my ceiling.
That was my first issue. My second issue came almost immediately after when it started to pour with rain. This was obviously not ideal seeing as there was a gaping hole in my roof. I thought it would be okay if I put a bucket underneath the hole. That was my third mistake. As it turned out, the rain was strong enough to cause floods in a hundred-kilometre vicinity of my home. The rain was even causing damage to my brand new phone line, which was installed by the best communication cabling contractor in the Melbourne area. Looking back on the last twenty-four hours, that was one of the worst things to happen. I had literally just gotten it installed and was obviously so happy about the fact. I even brought my family over to show them the final result and that’s what happened.
You know what? Looking back on the events that led me to be sitting here in the pouring rain with no home, no phone line and no family hasn’t really helped. I’m still not entirely sure what got me to this point. Maybe I’ll never know.
