Urgent Brake Replacement

I’m just killing time at this point. It’s the weekend, I have no worries in the world and no responsibility for the entire day. The only thing I have to do today is go to my friend’s house party at around 9:00pm. Until then, I’m free as a bean. Or is the saying free as a bird? I’m not sure. Who cares? It’s the weekend. I don’t have to use my brain for anything.

I feel sorry for my brother who has to spend the entire day at the mechanic. He is in desperate need of a brake pad replacement. In fact, he was so desperate that he had to cancel his plans for today just to be able to go to the mechanic. He had really good plans as well – he was going to go to a bottomless brunch in the early afternoon and then meet me at our friend’s house party. I guess you win some and you lose some. I wonder if my brother will even have left the mechanic by the time we’re supposed to go to the party. How long do mechanics remain open when they’re doing urgent car repairs? Adelaide mechanics take their jobs very seriously but surely on a Saturday evening they want to hang up the tools for the day and go and enjoy their weekends. I don’t know. I’m not a mechanic for obvious reasons. The most obvious being the fact that I’m not particularly interested in cars and I don’t want to give up my ever-so-important weekend just to help someone else. At my job, as soon as I knock off at five o’clock on a Friday, I don’t have to help anyone. I don’t have to think about work. I don’t have to talk to my colleagues. Nothing. All I have to do is kill time during the day so that I can be ready to party again at night.
